Georgi Valev is Professor of Geodesy at the University of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geodesy – Sofia.

From 1969 to 1975 he has worked in the Scientific Research Institute for Surveying and Cartography mainly in the fields of geodesy. In 1975 he passed on work in the University of Architecture Civil Engineering and Geodesy – (UACEG). In 1980 he became associated professor and vice Dean of Department of Geodesy.He defended a Doctor's of science degree, the basic part of which is devoted to the geodesic use of GPS. In 1991 he was appointed a professor. From 1993 to 1995 he is a Deputy Rector on education of the UACEG.

In 1998 he was the Head of Department "Coordination and control of Land Reform" in the Ministry of Agriculture, Forests and Agricultural Reform.

Georgi Valev has more than 120 articles in the field of geodesy, photogrammetry, least mean square adjustment, engineering geodesy, National control networks, co-ordinate systems, gravimetry and global and integrated geodesy.

Georgi Valev is a founding member of the Association for Geospatial Information in South East Europe and a member of the Managing Board of AGISEE.
