Florian Petrescu is lecturer at the Urban Engineering and Regional Development Department of the Technical University of Civil Engineering in Bucharest. He participated and is currently involved in several GIS projects at national level such as urban cadastre, urban planning and land management and international level such as URBAN (INCO-960252; 1997-1998), RISK-UE (EVK4-2000-0014; 2000-2003), TRAIN-GIS (Leonardo da Vinci RO/00/B/F/PP-141076; 2001-2002), Flood prevention in the upstream of Tisa river (EuropeAid/111705/D/S/RO; 2001-2002) GISEE - GIS Technology and Market in South East Europe (IST-2001-37994, 2002-2003). At the same time he is Managing director of OBIECTIV srl, a young company established in 2003 having GIS as one of its main target fields.

Florian Petrescu is a founding member of the Association for Geospatial Information in South East Europe and a member of the Managing Board of AGISEE.
